The county of Zavidovi?i is the largest site in Bosnia and Herzegovina, known for the stone balls. Starting today, it has become the first place in Europe with a unique “Archaeological Park of Bosnian Stone Balls”. Its founder is the “Archaeological Park Foundation; Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun”, whose members and experts have been discovering and researching this phenomena. One of those members is Mr. Ahmet Bosni?.

The county of Zavidovi?i and its mayor, Mr. Izet Baši?, have welcomed the members of the Foundation, as well as the local and foreign friends and media outlets. Mr. Basi? had informed the guests about the activities and efforts of his county to establish this Archaeological Park. Mr. Basic took the guests to the center of Zavidovi?i and showed them the City’s Fountain, adorned with a perfectly shaped stone ball. The guests could also see a map with cities and places that are the sites of stone balls in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The guests took a tour in the area, which is a site of about 40 stone balls, and witnessed this phenomena that makes Bosnia and Herzegovina one of the most interesting  archaeological and historical countries in the world.

The coordinator of this project, and the Foundation’s member, Mr. Ahmet Bosnic, and the Foundation’s Chairman, Mr. Semir Osmanagi?, held a presentation on these world phenomena, which also included countries such as Mexico, Costa Rica, etc.

Many officials from several different cities and counties that are also known for stone ball sites have signed an agreement, which will oblige them to protect these unique archaeological artifacts. This agreement also binds them to promote these areas within their counties. The cities and counties that have signed this agreement are;

Zavidovi?i, Vareš, Kakanj, Maglaj and Žep?e.  Other cities are expected to sign this agreement as well.

Archaeological Park of  Bosnian stone balls will  also include the sites in Banja Luka (villages Trn and Slatina), Teo?ak, Maglaj, Konjic, Srebrenik, Kakanj, Vareš, Zenica, Mostar, Sanski Most, Olovo, Stari Majdan, Zavidovi?i...
